Privacy policy
Unmoment works without an account, and your photos stay on your phone. If you turn on backup, we store what's needed to keep your photos safe for you, and nothing more.
Unmoment is made by Abhisek Adhikari (“we”). This policy explains what the Unmoment app does with your information. Questions are welcome at abhisekadhikari666@gmail.com.
If you don't use backup
Your photos and settings are stored only on your phone. Nothing is sent to us, and we can't see any of it. You don't need an account.
If you turn on backup
Backup is optional. You sign in with Google, and we then store:
| Your account | Your email address, name and profile picture link from Google, and an account ID. |
|---|---|
| Your photos | The photos you capture. Each file keeps the camera's technical details (such as device model and exposure). Unmoment does not record your location, and photos contain no GPS data. |
| Details of each moment | When it was taken, your time zone, which camera was used, and the file's type, size, dimensions and checksum. |
We use this only to back up your photos, restore them to your devices, and make the flip-book videos you ask for.
Flip-book videos
When you ask for a video, our server makes it from your backed-up photos. The finished video is deleted from the server after one day. Saved copies stay on your phone.
What the app asks your phone for
- Camera, to take your daily photo.
- Notifications, to tell you when your moment has arrived. This is scheduled on your phone.
- Photos, only if you choose to save photos, posters or videos to your phone's library.
Unmoment doesn't use your microphone, contacts or location.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your information.
- We don't show ads, and the app contains no advertising or analytics tools.
- We don't look at your photos or use them for training AI, marketing or anything else.
Who helps us run it
Your information is handled by these service providers, only to run Unmoment:
| Google (Firebase Authentication) | Sign-in with Google |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare (R2) | Stores backed-up photos, privately |
| Oracle Cloud (Mumbai, India) | Runs our server and database |
| Google Play | Distributes the app and handles app updates |
These providers may process information outside your country. We don't share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Security
All traffic is encrypted. Backed-up photos are stored privately and reached only through short-lived links issued to your signed-in account. Our server logs record technical events and an internal ID, never your email, photos or sign-in tokens, and they are overwritten regularly.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your backup until you delete it.
- A photo: delete it in the app and it's removed from our storage within minutes. We keep a small marker (its ID and deletion time) so that it can't reappear from another device, until you delete your account.
- Your account: go to Settings → Backup → Delete account and backup, or see how to delete your account. Your account is blocked at once, and your photos and data are erased soon after.
- Server backups: if any routine server backup holds deleted data, it disappears when that backup expires.
Photos on your phone stay there until you remove them or uninstall the app.
Your choices and rights
You can use Unmoment without signing in, turn backup off, delete individual photos, or delete your account at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or erase it, by writing to abhisekadhikari666@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act or the GDPR.
Children
Unmoment isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has used backup, write to us and we'll delete the data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. For a significant change, we'll also let you know in the app.
